Hi Amy,

You have so well said what has been on my mind today as we witness a tragedy turned into political fodder and used for profiteering.

On September 11, 2001, I was sleeping in the fire station where I was working when awakened by a coworker who had just turned on the TV.

I quickly began to resent the term hero as people would stop by to show their appreciation for what we do. I was three thousand miles away sleeping which was not heroic by any definition. My heart was with the victims and their families which is where we should focus when we speak of the attack.

I too am troubled by the way our society has become cynical as the horror of the days events fade into distant memory. It cheapens the sacrifice made by so many as well as the lives of the innocent people killed that day.

I appreciate your thoughts and could not agree more with your observations.
